Greets and seats guests politely and enthusiastically, maintains reservation book and waiting list, takes to-go orders over telephone, cleans/maintains host area and front of the house, and assists service director as needed. Uses OpenTable online reservation system. 

Part-time, 25 hours per week

Wage: $9.00/hr + tips (avg $11/hour+); Event Server: $15/hr

Shifts are 9am-4pm

Our Host Performance Expectations are:  

Essential Functions:

  • Arrives on time for all shifts, meetings, and classes. 
  • Follows the training compact and takes responsibility for his or her training. 
  • Understands Open Table and correctly takes reservations and call-ahead seating. 
  • Gives great service over the phone. 
  • Is active in helping "connect the dots"
  • Follows host priority list
  • Maintains neat workspace and completes all assigned side work. 
  • Positively responds to requests for help from guests, managers, and staff. 

Other Functions: 

  • Follows the three steps to great service and the five steps to handling a customer complaint. 
  • Is able to recognize where help is needed in all areas of the Roadhouse and assists as needed. 
  • Is knowledgeable about the menu and is able to answer questions about the menu, is able to complete a Roadhouse menu tour. 
  • Knowledgeable about upcoming special dinners and private events. 
  • Attends and participates in weekly huddles and/or is responsible for knowing Roadhouse key measures and numbers. 
  • Follows the staff member guidelines.
  • Documents all code reds and greens.

Essential Functions:

  • Is able to follow directions in the moment, under time pressure, with a smile

  • Can work long shifts that require standing/walking/bending/lifting throughout shift

  • Has excellent communication skills

  • Has the ability to handle multiple tasks at one time and stay focused

  • Stays well organized with a strong attention to detail

  • Has reliable transportation

  • Serves food and beverages carrying large, heavy trays

  • Sets up and tears down events including tables, chairs, place settings, linens, buffets

  • Stocks and replenishes food stations/buffet tables

  • Assists bartenders as needed, including serving beer and wine on occasion

  • Busses tables and works to keep guest spaces clean and tidy

The Success Patterns for this position are:

  • Has one to three years experience as a host in a high-end service environment. 
  • Has a reputation for excellent relations with guests and front and back of house staff. 
  • Has worked effectively as part of a team. 
  • Has successfully managed guest's dining experience in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to move and position self around the kitchen, the basement and on the dining floor during the shift
  • Bending, stooping, and being positioned upright for long periods at a time
  • Must be able to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to balance and relocate a tray with drinks and/or dishes
  • Ascends/Descends between basement and main floor
