This is an hourly, on-call position. Hours that are most commonly available are on weekends and holidays. Our on-call Event Bartenders are responsible for meeting and exceeding the expectations of all guests. They are responsible for the setting up and maintaining portable bars and beverage stations and cleaning up and breaking down of bars at the end of events. This is a fast paced position that will involve constant customer interaction and requires the ability to carry large, heavy objects on a continuous basis throughout a shift.

Occaisonal - as needed, $14-17/hour


Essential Functions:

  • Setup and breakdown portable bars and beverage stations at off-site events
  • Follows checklists for set-up and breakdown of Greyline bar
  • Can describe all of our house beer/wine to guests
  • Pours and serves beers and wines
  • Mixes cocktails
  • Serves drinks at events
  • Handles monetary transactions as needed
  • Abides by all laws in relation to serving alcohol including ensuring guests aren't over served
  • Assists with all functions at catering events as needed - setting up, tearing down, replenishing food, serving, cleaning (see Catering Events Staff Job Description).
  • Keep their workspace clean, organized and sanitized
  • Serve food and beverages carrying large, heavy trays
  • Take direction from the Service Manager and Event Captain while working events
  • Meet and exceed all expectations of servicing and/or bartending event
  • Respond quickly to requests from guests, co-workers, supervisors and managers while being accurate, polite and enthusiastic
  • Follow up to ensure guest needs are met and exceeded
  • Maintain a professional image at all times through actions and appearance
  • Conduct all business in accordance with Zingerman's Guiding Principles and Bottom Lines
  • Be timely and accurate in completing all assigned responsibilities
  • Give exceptional service to all customers at our events
  • Complete training requirements


The Success Patterns for this position are:

  • Has experience working in the foodservice/hospitality industry
  • Experience working in banquet service is preferred, but not required
  • Has previous bartending experience, preferably in a banquet setting
  • Is TIPS or ServSafe Alcohol Certified
  • Can have a flexible schedule
  • Is able to follow directions in the moment, under time pressure, with a smile
  • Can work long shifts that require standing/walking/bending throughout shift
  • Has excellent communication skills
  • Has the ability to handle multiple tasks at one time and stay focused
  • Stays well organized with a strong attention to detail
  • Can safely lift and carry 50 pounds and move product up and down stairs
  • Having a valid drivers license is preferred but not required
