The Kitchen Supervisor is responsible for delivering the Zingerman's experience to all staff and guests. This position reports to the Sous Chef.

Both AM & PM Shifts available:

  • AM Supervisor - 5am-4pm
  • PM Supervisor - 2pm-12am/1am

40 hrs/week, weekends required

$15-16/hour, depending on experience

Our performance expectations - Essential Functions:

  • Prepares the evening menu
  • Ensures all stock for menu items is on-hand
  • Prepping, including preparing fish, steak cutting and all other prep as needed
  • Communicates specials to all cooks
  • Manages the quantity of food prepared during the shift
  • Ensures all food safety and sanitation guidelines are met and/or exceeded, including maintaining temperature logs
  • Runs the "wheel"
  • Coordinates the produce order
  • Ensures all closing procedures and check-lists have been completed at the end of the shift
  • Prepares and cooks food according to Zingerman's Roadhouse standards and recipes.
  • Ensures that all food meets quality and presentation standards.
  • Completes Training Passport within the stated timeframes and continues to live the Training Compact.
  • Participates/leads in DOR huddles
  • Effectively trains and manages other staff members
  • Maintains great communication and check-ins between line cooks, sous chefs/managers, and front of the house
  • Maintains a strong sense of what is going on in the whole restaurant during the shift.
  • Continuous learning and training as needed to maintain an advanced knowledge of core functions of each station on the line (ie grill, saut, pantry, fry, etc).

 Other functions:

  • May assist Sous Chef with staffing issues such as conflict resolution, discipline and hiring as needed


The Success Patterns for this position are:

  • Has two to three years cooking experience in a variety of kitchens, including both high-end and high-volume environments
  • Has two to three years in a kitchen supervisory/manager role
  • Demonstrated cooking technique
  • Solid experience running a line
  • Ability to successfully lead teams
  • Has a reputation for excellent relations with staff, co-workers, vendors and guests
  • Has a reputation for maintaining a safe and clean kitchen
